How Do You Import Images in Magento?

Below you will find the answer to that question and more.

Here are some problems I had and some solutions:

1) File permissions and ownership had changed on /media/import
set file permissions to 777 and ownership to username:nobody

2) Your CSV file needs to document the product links as /filename.jpg with no directory

3) Filenames are case sensitive so .jpg isn't the same as .JPG

4) If you have run your import on the CSV and it has moved the images and tied them to the products remove the image paths from your csv before importing again or you will get duplicate images.
